Steel is characterized by the restrained English luxury. Steel industry was founded in England in XVIII century. The first blast furnaces appeared in 1709 and later their amount grew rapidly.
Geographically steel industry was centered primarily in Birmingham, Vulverhampton and Sheffield. The amount of steelwares annually produced in Sheffield was really huge.
In 1856 Henry Bessemer invented simple and inexpensive method of steel production using oxygen in air blown through molten pig iron. The process was called “Bessemer process” and made the whole revolution in a steel industry.
Stainless steel itself was firstly discovered by Harry Brearly from Sheffield in 1913. It was he who discovered that adding chromium to low carbon steel makes it resistant to chemical attacks and corrosion resistant as well. At the end of the twentieth of the last century stainless steel gained general acceptance. Due to Brearly’s invention we nowadays can use stainless steel cookware that is deservedly recognized as the most hygienic and ecologically safe.
There were a lot of followers: master-founders and self-taughts, who maid a significant contribution to development and distribution of steel cookware. One of them was English steel founder John Taller. At the end of XVIII he set up a company of the same name. One of the principal directions of the company’s activities was manufacturing of stainless steel cookware.
